The project requires the acceptance of £331,719 over a 2 year period from the Department of Communities and Local Government for a multi-agency response to rough sleeping in the Town.
The Department of Communities and Local Government issued a letter to the Chief Executive offering a grant to Ipswich Borough Council and Suffolk Coastal District Council of £331,719 to address rough sleeping. A steering group of service providers has been established with the Ipswich Local Housing partnership led by Ipswich Borough Council.
Why it is being made listing reasons for the decision
Rough sleeping is increasing and is a concern. The last count in November 2017 showed a 70% annual increase to 27 people. The Council works with the Ipswich Local Housing partnership to address all causes of homelessness and rough sleeping and ensure that these people are supported back into the community. This award will be a significant help in resourcing additional services.
