OD/16/59 Debt Advice Service from IHAG

The current debt advice arrangement with IHAG has been reviewed in the light of the current and future benefit changes, especially Universal Credit, which may have a huge potential impact on many of our Council tenants and increase the demand for debt advice.

IHAG currently provide a 3 day per week service. IHAG have agreed to provide a 5 day a week service from 1 April 2017 with costs remaining at current levels. In order to give some stability in the light of significant impending change, it is proposed to extend the arrangement with the current debt advice service provider for the next two years on the understanding that the service will be market tested by April 2019. The service value is £70,000 for 24 months.
