The DCLG require each local authority to provide an estimate of their Non-Domestic Rates income for the coming financial year. This forecast includes a section to record the potential losses from rateable value appeals. For includes the requirement to forecast the potential loss for the next five years of the new 2017 rating list.
The SRP partners (Ipswich, Babergh & Mid Suffolk) have appointed Wilks Head and Eve to undertake a forensic analysis of the current 2017 draft rating list to provide a forecast on the potential losses from appeal.
Contract Standing Orders have been waived in line with the constitution because the cost for Ipswich would be less than the £10k limit. It also ensures a continued consistent approach to providing an appeals provision and avoids the added costs of undertaking a procurement exercise for the 3 authorities.
