Ipswich Borough Council wishes to appoint UK power Networks (UKPN) to install a new 500kVA substation for the new multi storey car park at Claude Street, Ipswich.
On 9 February 2016 Executive approved the funding for the new multi-storey car park at Claude Street, Ipswich.
UKPN are the statutory provider for electrical distribution within the UK, they will complete all electrical works and substation, whilst the new contractor for the site will complete the civil engineering works.
Contract Standing Orders have been waived in line with the constitution because although other providers could complete part of the works this piecemeal approach would not be in the economic interests of the Council or enable delivery of the project on time.
The works will be carried out during the multi storey car park construction period during the summer of 2017.
UKPN contract value is £71,373.10 plus VAT.
