The current ICT data storage hardware was full and near its maintainable end of life (5 years). A decision was taken to replace it and appropriate quotes were sought for the most competitive price.
Research was undertaken earlier in the year to assess alternative technologies (chiefly Software Defined Storage) but the conclusion was reached that the current SAN technology was still best value for the purposes required.
This is included as a recorded decision as the value of the equipment purchased exceeds the £10,000 guideline.
