OD/20/46 Warden Call Contract

Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

The warden call, door entry & fire alarm systems contract for the Council’s Housing stock was tendered but due to unforeseen issues arising from the response to the tender it has not been possible to complete this procurement exercise.

Consequently, it has been decided to award a short-term contract for a period of up to 12 months with the incumbent supplier, on the same terms, to a maximum value of £95,000. This decision has been exempted from the Council’s Contract Standing Orders on the basis of using a single supplier as the work covered by this contract is essential and any delay or failure to conduct it would cause a risk to the health and safety of residents and employees. There are limited alternative options available as the service provision needs to be maintained and any delay or gap in provision causes risks to health and safety.

The proposed short-term contract provides time for a new procurement exercise to be undertaken and a new contract to be awarded for an anticipated three-year period.
