Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

As a result of the Council’s decision to increase the available budget for void works on the Council housing stock the Council will have a requirement for additional plastering work valued at £34.5K and an additional requirement for painting and decorating work valued at £38.4K and a decision was required on the most efficient way of procuring this additional work. The option of tendering the additional work was considered. The most cost effective procurement method is to vary existing MA2 contracts for void works with sub-contractors until the end of the existing contracts in January 2015.

Decision:

Decision

To vary the existing MA2 contract for void works until January 2015 as follows;

·         Plastering Work valued £34.5K approx. to R. J Dean Plastering

·         Painting & Decorating Work valued at £38.4K approx.- to Homestead PDS Ltd.

Until these current contracts expire in January 2015 when the contracts will be tendered.

Reason

The variation of the existing previously tendered contracts will be the most cost effective way to use this budget, saving on time/cost to procure these works for duration of seven months. All current contracts have been made through a competitive tender process to ensure the existing rates demonstrate value for money.
