Ipswich Borough Council are currently undertaking the sewer clearance works on a weekly basis at the Eastern Gateway site until the foul rising main is completed.
The original works were estimated to be under £10,000 and an order has been placed, however, due to occupant operations being escalated during the COVID-19 pandemic, the foul sewer has seen more usage than expected.
It is estimated that a further £6,000 worth of clearance work will be required to ensure the foul storage is kept clear and the rising main can be commissioned upon completion.
To waive contract standing orders to allow the contract variation work to go ahead and to increase the purchase order from £9,000 to £15,000.
Reason: To continue the clearance of the sewer to prevent any issues for the operation occupants and facilitate the commission of the pumping station for the operation of the rising main.
