Aecom have been awarded the contract to review and update the Ipswich Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) originally published in 2011. The contract award (OD/19/22) was undertaken in accordance with CSOs through an open tender, and subsequently extended by variation (OD/19/51).
The SFRA is needed to inform the sequential approach to choosing sites to allocate for development through the Ipswich Local Plan. As Ipswich has many potential development sites within flood risk zones, the SFRA has significant implications on the plan making process and the key Local Plan criteria of ‘Soundness’. In order to resolve comments made by the Environment Agency at the Regulation 19 stage further work is required to complete the amendments to the SFRA in order that the Local Plan can progress, namely review of modelling information and update site sheets, and update the sequential test statement. The combined total of the additional works is £7,805.75
To waive contract standing orders and grant the contract extension of £7,805.75 for the Ipswich Strategic Flood Risk Assessment to Aecom.
Reason: In order that the additional work required is complete in order that the Local Plan can progress.
