Following an approach from a major promoter of concerts and outdoor events, the Head of Community and Cultural services for Ipswich Borough Council entered into negotiation for the hire of Chantry Park for the purposes of staging an entertainment event on 28th and 29th June 2014. Upon the terms of the Venue Hire Agreement setting out each party’s terms and responsibilities for the event on the above dates.
The Venue Hire Agreement also agrees the option of a further event in 2015, to be determined between the parties at or before 30th September 2014. The events support the Corporate Plan Building a Better Ipswich, particularly within the Theme 6: A More Enjoyable Ipswich.
This agreement does not prevent Chantry Park being used for any other community-based event (below 3,000 capacity) including musical events, nor does it restrict access to the park other than for the events themselves and a suitable and safe set-up and set-down period before and after the event.
This agreement does not form a Relevant Contract within the definition of the Council’s Contract Standing Orders, which do not apply to hiring agreements.
To agree the Venue Hire Agreement for events to be held on 28th and 29th June 2013 and the exclusive option for provision of a similar event in 2015 on terms as stated in the Agreement.
To provide a major concert in Ipswich, supporting visitor and economic activity within the town and providing income to Ipswich Borough Council in line with the Council’s Corporate Plan.
