Purpose:

The Council in conjunction with Suffolk Coastal District Council submitted a bid to the DCLG for funding via their Rough Sleeping Grant. The bid was successful and a grant totalling £331,719 over two years was awarded.

 

The bid consisted of four elements;

Street Outreach

Short Term Emergency Provision

Mental Health Link Worker

Financial Capability Training

 

IBC have now made a successful bid for further funding until the end of this financial year and have been awarded £267,234

Decision:

The new award includes an extension to the Street Outreach Project undertaken by the Ipswich Housing Action Group.

 

Two Drug and Alcohol Outreach workers to be commissioned by Public Health.

 

Accommodation provided by the Anglia Care Trust.

 

The extension of the Ipswich Winter Night Shelter by two months.

 

Extended opening of the Chapman Centre to include weekends

 

Two workers to provide support to individuals resident in hostels this service can be let by getting expressions of interest.

 

Alternative options considered and why rejected

The services could have been put out to tender but this was not feasible considering the tight timescale the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government have put on spending their grant.
