Decisions:

115.1.  Councillor Ellesmere reported that a revised report had been issued and the Executive members confirmed that they had received the updated report.

115.2.  Councillor Jones reported that the recommendations had been revised as the Strategy needed to be debated at Full Council before it could be adopted by Executive.

115.3.  Dr Ling (Head of Development and Public Protection) reported that it was important that the Strategy should link with other strategies across the county and be implemented on that basis.

115.4.  Dr Ling reported that there would be 9 weekends in 2013 without engineering works on the London to Ipswich train service, which would provide an opportunity to promote the tourism and heritage of Ipswich on these dates.

 

Resolved:

 

(i)           that Executive consider the draft updated Economic Development Strategy at Appendix 1 to this report;

Reason: To note the consultation responses and updated draft Strategy

 

(ii)          that Executive refer the draft updated Economic Development Strategy to Council for comment;

Reason: To consult Council in accordance with the Council’s Constitution

(iii)         that Executive authorise the Head of Development and Public Protection to develop a revised and updated implementation plan in consultation with key partners, as detailed in this report.
