St Elizabeth Hospice are running a similar event with a working title of ‘Art Trail 2019’ which is to be held in Ipswich for 12 weeks during the summer of 2019. It will comprise around 50 individually designed large fibreglass sculptures and 100 medium sized school and community group sculptures which will be located across central Ipswich.
St Elizabeth Hospice is again working in partnership with Wild in Art to procure sponsorship and to be the main beneficiary from a charity auction of the sculptures following the event in the autumn of 2019.
It is proposed that Ipswich Borough Council become a Supporting Partner to the 2019 Art Trail.
• £17,000 ‘cash’ and £12,000 of ‘value in kind’ all plus appropriate VAT
Reason for Recommendation
The tourism sector is of significant importance to Ipswich with an annual value to the economy of over £248m and supporting over 4,800 jobs (7.6% of total employment in Ipswich). This sculpture trail will bring significant numbers of people into the town centre aiding its vibrancy in summer 2019. The additional events held in the town centre (as against an out-of-town location in 2016) will have an economic benefit and be beneficial to the profile (etc) of the Town Hall / Corn Exchange complex.
To agree sponsorship of the event and for the Chief Executive to sign the sponsorship agreement with all bar £2,000 of the payments to be made during 2017/18 - subject to the ability to claw-back of up to 66% of the funds paid in the event that the Agreement is terminated during financial year 2017/18 and 33% during 2018/19 in the event that the Agreement is terminated during that financial year (with the other £2,000 due in 2018/19).
