OD/16/38 Park & Ride - Sundays Before Christmas Operation

Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

In order to promote the economy of the town centre in the run up to Christmas, it has been decided to fund the provision of the Ipswich Park & Ride service on Sundays for the 5 Sundays before Christmas which will cover the period from when the Christmas lights are switched on. The cost for this is £7,272 and will be arranged via Suffolk County Council (SCC) who have a service subsidy agreement with Ipswich Buses Ltd to provide the service. SCC are funding the provision of the service on late night shopping Thursdays covering the same period.

The main alternative option would be to not fund the Sunday service but this would mean that it would not run and it is considered that this would not be conducive to the economic interests of the town centre.
