Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

The Head of Housing and Community Protection has allocated project funding of £20K from his Community Development budget to enable community development work to be undertaken in the Jubilee Park Area.

Outcomes:

1.    Six fully trained Peer Advisors NVQ Level 3 Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) to support youth engagement and intervention work in the area.

2.    Young vulnerable people would be diverted away from being drawn into gang cultures and drug activities by providing credible alternatives into education, training and employment.

3.    Reduction in the level of anti-social and violent behaviour in the area and by doing so improving the quality of life for residents in that area.

Informal market research has indicated that this is a very specialist project therefore the Chief Operating Officer has waived Contract Standing Orders under Part 4 Section 9 3.2 – goods or materials are available only as proprietary or patented articles from one contractor or supplier, and for which there is no reasonable satisfactory alternative.
