A new access road and car park is to be built at Ransomes Sports Ground to support the new sports pavilion being constructed.
On 14 July 2015 Executive approved the funding for the new access road and car park leading up to the new pavilion building. The car park has been designed within the planned layout and constraints as already approved by IBC’s Planning Department.
The existing entrance in Sidegate Lane will remain, but it will be redeveloped to incorporate a new car park adjacent to the new pavilion building accommodating at least 10 Nr. car parking spaces. There will also be new lighting, landscaping and the erection of the restored Memorial Gates near the entrance area.
Decision: To approve the appointment of a main contractor for the works.
Reason: To undertake the construction of a new access road and associated car park facility at Ransomes Sports Ground off Sidegate Lane in Ipswich.
Following a competitive procurement process eleven tenders were returned. Four of the eleven tender submissions were found to be incomplete. The remaining seven tenders were evaluated on the basis of cost (60%) and quality (40%). The initial winning supplier scored 97% under the competitive evaluation model, but then withdrew from the tendering process. The second-placed supplier (Brooks and Wood) scored 90.8% respectively, has therefore been awarded the contract to a value of £164,013.95 plus VAT.
