Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Decision made to purchase the site of 7-9 Woodbridge Road for following reasons:

·         Site offered for sale by Auction 2nd March 2016.

·         Opportunity for strategic purchase. The Council owns land adjacent to the site.

·         This site will connect to the existing IBC Regent car park giving extended main road frontage to the car park and providing more car parking to support the Regent and east of town centre.

·         Site can be developed for car parking use in the medium term with wider redevelopment options in the longer term.

·         The site has been vacant/untidy for a number of years and the Council could bring it back into beneficial use as a car park, to provide an additional income to the Council and improve the appearance of the area.

·         In the future the subject site could be redeveloped for housing purposes.
