OD/15/24 Street Naming

Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Work commenced on a new development at the rear of 29 to 37 Spring Road in April 2015. The development is for six dwellings accessed by a road off Spring Road.

Therefore it is necessary to name this road under Operations Manager for Legal Services delegation.

The name proposed by the developer for the road was ‘Spring Gardens’

All replies from consultees were received by July 20th 2015. Objections to the name were noted from Ward Councillors and the Royal Mail due to the use of the prefix ‘Spring’ already being in use in surrounding roads and buildings in the area.

The objections were considered appropriate for the initially proposed name to be rejected.

An alternative name ‘Nursery Gardens’ was proposed and subsequently agreed by the developer to be put forward for a further consultation.

All replies from consultees were received by August 6th 2015 with no objections being raised.

The official street naming and numbering notice was issued August 10th 2015.
