OD-14-47 Purchase of materials for the Disabled Adaptation service

Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Reasons-

Maintenance and Contracts carried out an open procurement process using Suffolk e-sourcing for the supply of materials held within its stores for the Disabled Adaptation service. These materials are fitted by in-house teams maintaining the Council’s housing stock for adapted use.

An order was placed to accept the most economically advantageous tender in the sum of £66,000 covering the entire contract period, which runs from January 2nd 2015 to 31st March 2018. This amount is within the existing budget.

Alternative options-

The possibility of using a range of suppliers was considered as part of an open tender process. The successful supplier provided the most advantageous tender and was able to demonstrate they could supply materials of the desired quality within the timescales required.

This allows the service to meet stringent deadlines facilitating the availability of housing for adapted use as well as maintain the Council’s rental income.
