Purpose:

The Suffolk Coast Recreation Disturbance Avoidance and Mitigation Strategy (RAMS) is a project between East Suffolk Council, Babergh District Council, Mid Suffolk District Council and Ipswich Borough Council.

 

The RAMS strategy approach aims to reduce the impact of increased levels of recreational use on Habitat Sites (also often called European Sites), due to new residential development in the Suffolk Coast area, and

to provide a simple, coordinated way for developers to deliver mitigation for their developments.

 

The Strategy was prepared in April 2019 by Footprint Ecology following a competitive tender process led by Ipswich Borough Council on behalf of Babergh District Council, Mid Suffolk District Council, East Suffolk

District Council and Ipswich Borough Council.

 

The strategy is now due review and as lead authority for the strategy Ipswich Borough Council are required to award a contract to a suitably experienced supplier to undertake this review.

Decision:

To award a contract for the RAMS review to Footprint Ecology at the value of up to £59,961 including an allowance for contingency.

 

Reason:

Footprint Ecology are suitably experienced to undertake the review.
