91.1. Councillor MacDonald reported that it was proposed to sell a further parcel of land at the Eastern Gateway site, with full details contained in the exempt appendix.
91.2. Councillor Fisher queried the figure of 900 jobs having been created as a result of the redevelopment of the site and asked for a breakdown of this figure, also commenting that some of the jobs would be in the ‘gig economy’. Councillor MacDonald explained that the figure included the jobs which would be created through the development of five units by Trebor Developments and noted that the scheme had been very successful at creating jobs and also making improvements to the nature reserve and the riverside path.
91.3. Councillor Fisher asked whether the new roundabout required to access the site would alleviate flooding issues on Sproughton Road. The Senior Estates Surveyor, Chris Bull, confirmed that the roundabout would be designed in consultation with Suffolk County Council and that it was hoped that its construction would help to alleviate existing flooding issues in the area.
It was RESOLVED:
Reason: To enable the Council to secure disposals at best value with a view to supporting development on this strategic brown field site to support the local economy and job creation.
