The Ipswich Museums Collections Working Group has recommended to Ipswich Borough Council that the following acquisitions are agreed.
1. Quilt and photographs
Description: A vibrant quilt made by Mrs Eudene McConney and other women as a part of activity for the Ipswich Caribbean Association. The quilt is decorated with ‘ISCRE’ and STEED’ (‘Support Team For Elderly
Ethnic Development Services’, a voluntary organisation), as well as objects that demonstrate links to the Caribbean. This donation also includes a selection of photographs.
How does it meet Collections Development Policy:
Currently Ipswich Museums’ collections include few objects that tell the rich history and contributions of local African, Caribbean and dual heritage communities, which will be a key story within the redeveloped Ipswich
Museum.
This acquisition supports Ipswich Museums to meet collections development priorities for community history collections, in particular:
5.7.1 Future acquisitions will reflect how people lived, worked and played in Ipswich over recent centuries. There will be a particular emphasis on representing more diverse backgrounds – working-class people,
disabled people, people of colour (and recognising crossover with World Cultures), diversity of cultures represented in Ipswich.
Method of acquisition – Donation
2. Cor Visser 1903 - 1982 collection
Description: A collection of work and archive material by and about Dutch artist, Cor Visser, including photographic records, documents, original artwork, and printing blocks.

member of the Ipswich Art Club at the request of the then president, Anna Airy.
How does it meet Collections Development Policy:
5.2.1 The Council will acquire works with a local connection (through artist, maker, collector or subject) which is judged to have intrinsic historical or artistic worth and relevance.
