On 8 February 2022, Executive authorised funding for a new five year £3.5m investment programme in play areas (including additional funding from other sources such as Section 106 planning agreements).
On 8 March 2022, Executive adopted the Play Area Strategy 2022 - 2027 and Play Area Action (Investment) Plan 2022 - 2027 and that the Parks and Cemeteries Operations Manager be authorised to take all necessary steps to deliver the Strategy and improvement works necessary.
A procurement exercise has been undertaken by officers from the Council’s Procurement team, using the ESPO Portal to identify a preferred supplier for play equipment and associated safety surfacing.
One bid was received. A validation process was carried out by officers from the Council’s Parks team. The bid submitted by Kompan Ltd was found to demonstrate value for money and to meet required quality standards.
The value of this contract is approximately £169,327.14 for the purchase and installation of wetpour safety surfacing with bespoke graphics. This sum is within the budget available for the project. The groundworks will be carried out by the Council’s Landscape Team.
To award a contract to Kompan Ltd for the supply and installation of wet pour
safety surfacing for the play area in Henley Gate Country Park.
