£50,000 has been allocated from the Economic Development budget (IBC) agreed at the Portfolio Holder Meeting to use for innovative projects to tackle youth unemployment in Ipswich.
The Borough Council has run a procurement exercise seeking to procure work in 2 different areas:
• LOT 1: Mentoring
• LOT 2: Work readiness programme
Bids have been assessed against the published criteria and it is intended to contract with 2 organisations.
This form documents the first of 2 separate decisions.
This is to award £25,000.00 to Volunteering Matters to provide recruitment and training for 20 mentors and mentoring 25 young people 16 to 24 year olds that are not in employment, education and training.
The Portfolio Holder for Economic Development has been consulted and is supportive of the process/project.
To contract with Volunteering Matters for £25,000.00 to provide recruitment and training for 20 mentors and mentoring 25 young people 16 to 24 year olds that are not in employment, education and training.
Reason:
To ensure that the Council appropriately spends the funding it has received for this purpose.
