There is a need to increase the Council’s fleet of pool cars following a review of requirements and the removal of lease cars as part of Single Status implementation. It was considered that in this case, purchase rather than lease would provide better value to the Council. A mini tender exercise was carried out in line with contract standing orders for the procurement of four pool cars. The tender included both provider and type of vehicle and included environmental issues and whole life costs. Pool car users were consulted on the type of vehicles in order to ensure they meet accessibility needs for example. The total cost will be £39,136.06
The Fleet Manager led the procurement process in consultation with officers from Finance and Procurement and service users.
